EU citizens
Students belonging to a member state of the European Union do not need a visa to study in Spain.
European Union citizens do not need to carry out any type of administrative task, they just need a current passport or national identity document to carry out ordinary tasks.
Nevertheless, students absolutely must fill out the E111 form before leaving their country in order to be able to obtain medical assistance via Spain’s social security system. This form can be obtained from the social security service of the student’s own country.
We also recommend private insurance such as “International Health Insurance” (ask for details from your social security service).
Non-EU citizens
General Criteria:
All foreign students need a consular visa to be able to enter and stay in Spain.
The student visa must be applied for before arriving in Spain in one of the Spanish Diplomatic Missions or Consular Offices in your home or resident country and is valid for 90 days. The processing of this visa’s issue can last from one to two months.
Visa requirements:
Spanish consular authorities require the following documentation to be able to proceed with the processing of student visas:
- “Applicant information” form
- Visa application form
- Current original passport
- 4 passport sized photographs
- ENAE admission accreditation
- Accreditation of sufficient economic means via a bank reference
- Proof of studies carried out
