Description

This course is directed to the students of Master of International Trade unfold in a basic way to get into the international business world, where business English is used as a basic communication tool in the global world. The grammar is a subsidiary goal, as taken for granted as a secondary education subject matter, considering that this course of language applied to the company has essentially communicative focus.

It is a language teaching applied to specific purposes, in this case learning a series of structures and commercial transactions phenomena in the global world, so that the emphasis is on learning focused on the management of communication strategies, essential in communicative skills and the type of specialist in international sales in order to interact effectively in the world of transnational trade.

Also, students of International Trade must know not only the communication strategies outlined above, but also be able to do it through the use of specialized terminology, and even through a series of concepts or lexical fields in which such terminology is framed and are the results of cultural, legal and business difference between the source language (Spanish) and the target language (English).

In this regard, and given the status of language teaching in Spain, we must emphasized that the student should seek, above all, communicate successfully and without complications, in an environment that will not move with Anglophones but with all the nationalities, the majority of whom, they do business through English as  the communication language.

Goals

After completing the course the participant will be able to:

  • Manage key terminology, necessary to identify the various phenomena in international trade in the English language.
  •  Read and know the intricacies of documentary remittances in English in the most effective understanding.
  • Produce simple specialized text (e – mails, letters, job applications, resumes etc), adhering to gender norms advocated in international communication.
  •  Listen to and understand different communicative situations within the framework of international sales transactions.
  • Master the essential communication strategies that thrive in the world of exports.
  • Acquire awareness of conceptual differences that go beyond mere verbal communication, in order to apply this awareness into their daily practice in communicating with other cultures and countries that dominate, or at least communicate with the English Language.

 

Student Profile

ENAE Business School is very conscious of the fact that every teaching institution is built by all and must be very careful about participant selection right from the very start by analysing their CV, qualification certificates, admission exam and through a personal interview of the student by the program director. Depending on the program, ENAE Business School carries out tests to evaluate language competence.

Most of our students come from the business world about 80% of ENAE’s students are graduate professionals and executives who wish to update their knowledge and improve their skills. These students come from different academic backgrounds mostly engeneering, business, law, economics, communication and humanities.
We encourage young and talented graduates with entrepreneur spirit to be involved in our programs as a fast track to achieve their goals in the business World.

VERBAL AND NON VERBAL COMMUNICATION IN OVERSEAS BUSINESS.CROSS – CULTURAL AWARENESS STRATEGIES. INTRODUCTION TO EXPORT TERMINOLOGY.

  1. Communication and culture socialize successfully in the professional field.
  2.  Terminology introduction to the general field of exports and imports.

TELEPHONING AND WRITING EFFECTIVELY

  1. The phone in the company: how to take and leave messages, making business appointments.
  2. Business correspondence: letter, fax, e – mails. Their comprehension and writing.

COMPANY STRUCTURE IN THE ANGLO – AMERICAN WORLD. PRESENTING INFORMATION ABOUT YOUR COMPANY

  1. Corporate structure in Britain and the United Stated. Basic business terminology
  2. Oral presentations in English. How to present your company

NEGOTIATING

  1. The world of negotiations and corporate culture. How to negotiate in English

DOCUMENTARY COLLECTIONS AND DUCUMENTARY CREDITS: UNDERSTANDING THEIR TERMINOLOGY

  1. The means of payment for complex exports. Extensive and intensive reading of text involved in extra – bank remittance documentary. Their translation and processing. The Bill of Lading, charter parties, The Institute Cargo Clauses.
  2. Remittances documentary on the financial context: Documentary credits and its varieties. The Documentary Bill of Exchange.

Specified time period:  This course has and extension of 20 contact hours at ENAE premises.

Timetable: This course is delivered on Friday from 16:30 h. to 21:30 h. and Saturday from 9:00 h. to 14:00 h.
