This course is intended to give the participants the theory, knowledge, and tools to understand consumer behavior in a global context.
If a firm is to be successful, it needs to have a good understanding of how its customers think and why they behave the way they do. Rarely does a marketing strategy work if it doesn’t consider how consumers would react. This is even more critical in international marketing due to the differences in cultural values, traditions and habits, social systems, competitive forces, economic levels, technological advancements, and politico-legal constraints in countries around the world.
We will examine many concepts from psychology and marketing and discuss their applications in developing effective marketing strategies, considering the nuances in an international context.
This course has a dual focus. First, it introduces several personal selling and sales management concepts and theories required for effective organization and management of the salesforce internationally. Second, by using a ‘hands on’ approach it provides opportunities for applying these concepts for the development of sales strategies and evaluation of the sales effort.
